There are very few Seatons mentioned in the Little Dunkeld OPR - just 6 marriages and 3 baptisms. So it is quite likely that they will be related to each other. Duncan Seaton and Helen Seaton may be brother and sister as they both were born in Little Dunkeld and had a father John who was a tailor.

In the cotton mills a 'piecer' had to lean over the spinning machine, while it was still running, to repair broken threads. Young girls and children were employed as 'piecers' as they were quick and nimble.
By 1861 some of the family were living in Kilmadock (5/21).

Helen (Nelly) Seaton in Inver, Little Dunkeld
Nelly Seaton, unmarried pauper, died at Inver in the parish of Little Dunkeld on 19th May 1859, aged 76 years. Parents given as John Seaton, tailor, and Elizabeth Scott, both deceased. The informant was her cousin John McKillop.
It is difficult to know how accurate John McKillop had been on the death certificate, and his kinship is unclear. It is likely that he was the John McKillop, woodman, who died at Birnam, 6th December 1890 aged 85 years. He was married to Mary Mitchell and his parents were given as Alexander McKillop, mason, and Margaret McLaren.
There is no OPR entry of a marriage between any John Seaton and an Elizabeth Scott, and it is possible that Nelly was illegitimate. Likewise there is no record of a baptism around 1783.
The 1851 census ............where is she?.
The 1841 census ............Is she the 45 year old Helen in Little Dunkeld 9/1?. If so she was born around 1796 rather than 1783 and therefore much closer to the birth date for Duncan.
Helen Seaton, widow of Donald Farquharson, labourer, died at Ladywell Cottage in the parish of Little Dunkeld on 19th December 1862, aged 63 years. Parents given as John Seaton, church officer, and Margaret Cameron, both deceased. The informant was her daughter Margaret Farquharson.
