There is scant information regarding John Seaton. He was living at Trinafour when he married Isabel McIntosh, from Bridge of Tilt, on 23rd February 1840, and from the 1841 census return he appears to have been a labourer.

Dwelling Name Age Occupation Birth-place
Bridge of Tilt (47) John Seaton 27y labourer Perthshire
Bell Seaton 35y Perthshire
Jannet Seaton 1y Perthshire

The baptism of Jannet Seaton does not appear in the Blair Atholl OPR, there is no trace of John Seaton and his family in the 1851 census, and there do not seem to have been other children born to the couple.

The census return suggests that John Seaton was born around 1814. Assuming that his baptisms was recorded in the Blair Atholl OPR, the most likely entry is:

Blair Atholl OPR, 10th September 1815
John, lawful son to John Setton and Janet Robertson his spouse in Croftmore, was born 8th September and baptised 10th.

Despite it being clearly stated that John was a lawful son, the only possibly marriage seems to have taken place in Edinburgh

Edinburgh OPR, 15th November 1813
John Seton, cooper, South Leith, and Janet Robertson, Old Church parish, daughter of the deceased James Robertson, cork cutter, Edinburgh (married).

The couple had two children baptised in North Leith: Mary, 17th July 1814; and John, 14th July 1816.
