The Testament Dative and Inventory of Robert Stewart (in Pitdornie), 1758

(Note: Robert Stewart was the younger brother of Alexander Stewart 6th of Tulloch. He was a lieutenant in the Atholl Brigade and died at Culloden in 1746. His wife, Christian Reid, was the daughter of Adam Reid of Edradynate and Katherine Low, christened 5 Feb 1704, Logierait parish. The Blair Atholl OPR mentions the baptisms of a daughter Katharine, 24th November 1728, who is said to have died young, before her brother Alexander.)

Robert Stewart – The Testament Dative and Inventory of the goods, gear, debts and sums of money which pertained, and was resting to umquhile (deceased) Robert Stewart, brother germain to Alexander Stewart of Tulloch, the time of his decease which was in the month of (blank) 17(blank) years, truely made and given up by Elizabeth Stewart, only child of the defunct, executor dative qua nearest of kin, decerned to him by the Commissary of Dunkeld upon the day and date of these presents, as the decreet dative following on an edict duly executed and endorsed, in itself more fully bears:

Imprimis (Firstly), there is given up, resting to the said Robert Stewart, the time foresaid of his decease, by the now deceased Adam Reid, late of Edradynate, the sum of three hundred merks Scots money, remaining of five hundred merks money foresaid, which he contracted for and engaged to pay of tocher (marriage money) with Christian Reid, his eldest daughter, to the defunct in their marriage contract entered into and afterwards solemnized, bearing date the twenty seventh day of July 1725 years, at the tems following, viz: two hundred and fifty merks at Martinmass 1727, and the other two hundred and fifty merks at Martinmass 1729 years, bearing annual interest and fifty merks of liquidate expenses for each term faillie (failure of payment).

This testament was confirmed at Dunkeld, the foureenth day of July 1758 years by Thomas Bisset, Commissary Depute, and Alexander McGillivie in Milntown of Derculich became cautioner for the executor.
