The Testament Dative and Inventory
of John Stewart in Shierglas, 1769

John Stewart The Testament Dative and Inventory of the goods, gear, debts and sums of money which pertained and belonged and was resting to umquhile (deceased) John Stewart, tenant in the ten shilling land of Shierglas, (at) the time of his decease (which) was in the month of (blank) 1768 years, truely made and given up by David Inches, merchant in Dunkeld, executor dative qua creditor, decerned to the said defunct by the Commissary of Dunkeld upon the sixth day of April last, and that in payment to him of the sundry sums of money after-mentioned, viz:
In payment to him of the sum of eight pounds two shillings Scots money, contained in a bill dated the first day of June 1767 years, drawn by the said David Inches upon and accepted by the said John Stewart, the defunct, payable at Martinmass then next.
Item, of two pounds seven shillings six pence Sterling, contained in a bill date the tenth day of July the foresaid year, drawn by James Walker, shoemaker in Perth, upon and accepted by the said defunct, payable the first day of November 1768 years, indorsed by him payable to the said David Inches.
Item, of two pounds ten shillings Sterling money by another bill dated the first day of September 1767 drawn by the said David Inches upon and accepted by the said defunct, payable at Martinmass then next.
Item, of one pound six pence Sterling money by another bill drawn by the said David Inches upom and accepted by the said defunct, dated the tenth day of March 1768, payable at Martinmass then next.
Item, of one pound one shilling three pence Sterling money by the said defuncy, his other bill to the said David Inches, dated the 18th August 1768 years, payable at Martinmass then next to come.
And in payment to the said David Inches of the annual rents (interest) of the sundry sums afore-mentioned since they severally fell due.
And lastly, in payment to him of the expenses of thispresent confirmation as the decreet dative following on an edict duly executed and endorsed in itself more fully bears.

Imprimis (Firstly), there is given up, pertaining and resting to the said umquhile John Stewart time foresaid of his decease, the sum of eight pounds Sterling or thereby, being the value and prices of certain of his corns and other effects bought by William Stewart at Mill of Blair Atholl at rouping thereof after the defunct's death, and for which sum gave bill for payment of the same to the executor entitled thereto or as such other ways by the roup roll on this document and lodged in the hands of Patrick Stewart in Toldunie, who had some management or other concern in the roup and is payable at Martinmass 1769.
Item, the sum of three pounds Sterling money due by Alexander Graham on the said ten shilling land of Shierglas, also for effects bought by him at the defunct's foresaid roup, and for which he gave bill or some other document for the same, and is vouched by the roup roll aforesaid, in the hands and custody of the said Patrick Stewart, in manner afore-mentioned.

Summa Inventory

This testament was confirmed by Mr Thomas Bisset, Commissary of Dunkeld, upon the twenty third day of December 1769 years , and John Robertson in Dunkeld, merchant, became cautioner, acted for the said David Inches, the executor, and he for his relief.
